This was my first time photographing a New Year’s Eve wedding. Normally, I reserve that night for celebrating with friends and family—ringing in the new year with a dance party and spending the first day of January making borscht. But this year, I had the absolute honor of spending my New Year’s Eve with an incredible couple and their amazing community. I truly cannot say enough about Mazzy and Jonny and the people they love most.
From the moment Danielle and I arrived to well past midnight when we left, we felt like honored guests—swept up in the energy and joy of the night. Some couples ease into their reception with light music, dinner, and toasts before kicking off the dancing. Not Mazzy and Jonny. They had their DJ working from the very start, and the dance floor never emptied. Dinner was served mid-dance party, with only one brief pause for a toast. When we first talked about their wedding, they told me—over and over—that they wanted to throw the best party ever for their family and friends. And they absolutely did just that. The entire evening felt like New Year’s Eve at midnight.
Mazzy and Jonny, thank you for your incredible kindness, your joy, and for ringing in the new year with such a bang! It was the perfect way to start 2025.
